Bamboo Hut Posters 2

Here are the final images for the Bamboo Hut posters. The art director wanted them to look nostalgic, textured and faded. They are going to be reproduced in a large format to be installed in a new Salt Lake Location opening this month. I'm still not sure if I like this version or the original better.

Bamboo Hut Posters

About a week and a half ago I got a call to create 3 posters for the Bamboo Hut, a polynesian restaurant in Provo. These are the initial images all created in Adobe Illustrator. I'd like to thank my son Kevin for his help. It's always fun to work with him and his brother Joshua. The art director on this project wants to tweak them a bit. I will be posting the final art soon.

Payson Recreation

I was asked to come up with a logo for the recreation program of Payson where I live. They didn't know what they wanted, so I had free reign. I came up with this one, which I believe is as good as any I've seen and better than most.
After seeing the logo, they still don't know what they want, but they know what they don't want. Such is the life of an artist.

Asia

I rarly create art with a paint brush and real paint. There is something grounding to physically mix paint and put brush to gessoed board. This comission was a real interaction with the client. She described all the objects she wanted in the painting and came up with the inital coloring. I found it quite satisfying to create this symbolic painting representing Asia.

Calendar Scribbles

It has been some time since I have posted anything. All the art I've been doing latley is for something that can't really be let out of the bag yet.
So I was sitting in church without my sketch book and was drawing on my calendar while listening to how I was going to hell if I didn't do my geneology. I decided to take some of the better March, April, and May doodles and put them together.

Recolor

One of the really amazing features of Adobe Illustrator CS3 is recoloring. By using the existing colors I can play with new color pallets. Here is a couple of recolor images along with the original sketch.

Dragon Art

I got Illustrator CS3 for Christmas and wanted to try it out. It was a huge upgrade from Illustrator 10. I found an old sketch that I'd done years ago and used it for this art.
